Our hero had been defamed by the enviers in the eyes of his master, and decided to commit harakiri to prove his innocence. You should remember that when the samurai commits harakiri he must cut his stomach in a way to reveal his entrails to the witnesses of the deed. That implies the deep sense - the bloody metaphore of this act is in demonstrating the purity of thoughts and intentions. So, our hero set up his mind to prove his innocence before the master at the expense of his own life. His hazardous nature has suddenly prompted the warrior to throw the dice whether the deadly protest is the right decision.
